Awesome for Character design! Fantastic for Brainstorming!<\/strong><br \/>\nUntil Adobe makes Photoshop realtime symmetry possible this tools are the closer approach you could have. It basically uses Photoshop guides (vertical and horizontal) as Axis for the symmetry, but it\u2019s not limited to guides, it also works with selections and for fastest use we can assign shorcuts to the main functions.<br \/>\nBrutus is a great companion for your artist toolbox! Brutus will allways work with the latest guide you&#8217;ve added (vertical and horizontal), it doesn&#8217;t matter if there are one hundred guides it allways use the last vertical and the last horizontal you&#8217;ve added.<br \/>The PS rulers are activated with the shortcut &#8216;Ctrl + R&#8217;, and at any time if you want to hide the guides without deleting it just press &#8216;Ctrl + H&#8217;.<br \/>I recommend to work in a new layer avoiding to work in the Background layer. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/alexdukal.com\/store\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/05\/AD_Brutus-Symmetry_021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alexdukal.com\/store\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/05\/AD_Brutus-Symmetry_021-600x386.jpg\" alt=\"AD Brutus Symmetry #2\" width=\"600\" height=\"386\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-31207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alexdukal.com\/store\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/05\/AD_Brutus-Symmetry_021-600x386.jpg 600w, https:\/\/alexdukal.com\/store\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/05\/AD_Brutus-Symmetry_021-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/alexdukal.com\/store\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/05\/AD_Brutus-Symmetry_021.jpg 1156w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Kaleidograph &#038; the Smart Layers Symmetry.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Smart Layers technique will only work if you have only one opened document.<br \/>\nI recommend to start with a new document. The one on the left will save a PNG version of your active layer beside the PSD, if you&#8217;re working on an unsaved PSD file, the PNG will be saved in a folder on your Desktop.<br \/>\nAnd, the latest button (Merge to PNG) will create a merged PNG copy of  your document. It detects if you are working on the Smart Layers Symmetry, so you could save the preview window as &#8216;Screenshot&#8217; without leaving the active working window.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Manual Installation.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Close Photoshop if it&#8217;s running.<\/li>\n<li>Unzip the <strong>ad.brutussymmetry.zxp<\/strong> file<\/li>\n<li>Inside the HTML folder there is another <strong>ad.brutussymmetry.zxp<\/strong><br \/>Unzip that file to a folder named <strong>ad.brutussymmetry<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Then check <em>-very carefully-<\/em> that you have that <strong>ad.brutussymmetry<\/strong> folder<br \/>with <strong>ONLY<\/strong> this contents inside:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>css\/<br \/>\nCSXS\/<br \/>\nicons\/<br \/>\nimages\/<br \/>\njs\/<br \/>\njsx\/<br \/>\nMETA-INF\/<br \/>\nindex.html<br \/>\nmimetype<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Move or Copy that folder with ALL its contents to:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>WIN:<\/strong> C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Common Files\\Adobe\\CEP\\extensions<br \/>\n(before latest Adobe updates it was at C:\\your-username\\AppData\\Roaming\\Adobe\\CEP\\extensions)<br \/>\n<strong>MAC:<\/strong> ~\/Library\/Application Support\/Adobe\/CEP\/extensions<br \/>\n&nbsp;\n<\/li>\n<li>Back to the first unzipped file and from the SCRIPTS folder move<br \/><strong>AD_Brutus-Symm-L2R.jsx<\/strong> and <strong>AD_Brutus-Symm-R2L.jsx<\/strong> to:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>WIN:<\/strong> C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Photoshop\\Presets\\Scripts<br \/>\n<strong>MAC:<\/strong> Applications\/Photoshop\/Presets\/Scripts<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Launch Photoshop and open the Panel from:<br \/><strong>Window > Extensions > AD Brutus Symmetry<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Troubleshooting.<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Just in case, Photoshop Panels must be found here:<br \/><strong>Mac:<\/strong><br \/><strong>PS CC:<\/strong> ~\/Library\/Application\/Support\/Adobe\/CEPServiceManager4\/extensions\/<br \/><strong>PS CC 2014:<\/strong> ~\/Library\/Application Support\/Adobe\/CEP\/extensions\/<br \/>\n<strong>Win 32bit:<\/strong><br \/>C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Adobe\\CEP\\extensions\\<br \/><strong>Win 64bit:<\/strong><br \/>C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Common Files\\Adobe\\CEP\\extensions\\<\/li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<li>If the installation was fine but after launch the Panel inside Photoshop it doesn&#8217;t work, probably (90%) you have some kind of trouble with your Adobe products installation.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nIf you&#8217;re having some <em>&#8216;common trouble&#8217;<\/em> with a bad installation or bad update of some Adobe products they suggest to use a cleaner tool here:<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/creative-suite\/kb\/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html\">https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/creative-suite\/kb\/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html<\/a><br \/>but the solution change from one machine to the other so I can&#8217;t reccomend a 100% secure fix. We just know that if the panel is listed in the extension manager there&#8217;s no trouble with the panel itself.<\/li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<li>Take care when using the <strong>45\u00ba Rotation tool<\/strong>, it&#8217;s included just as a helper for sketching or brainstorming, do not use it in final artworks!<br \/>Photoshop can&#8217;t make 45\u00ba rotations without destroying the image progressively (mathematics!), so if you use this tool many times in the same image\tthe quality will be reduced with each click.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Help &#038; Troubleshooting &nbsp; If Hermann Rorschach were still alive he would surely be using &#8216;Brutus&#8217; to perform his tests! &nbsp; Brutus is Adictive!
